This is basically an update to my DPMS problem post below.   i was having an issue with a DPMS upper short stroking.   Just for the hell of it I switched lowers and now the upper runs fine!   I took both lowers (identical RRA's) and checked both and it seems that the buffer spring is much stiffer on the one that was short stroking.  Could the spring be too long or too stiff?  I see what the correct size is from the FAQ's.  If it is too long can it be cut or should I order a new one.   Has anybody ever had the lower cause s/s like this?    Or is it possible some other aspect of the lower is causing the s/s problem?
Thanks

A2 stock screw in an A1 stock.  Wrong buffer and/or wrong spring in the wrong stock. Hammer catching the firing pin on the return. Back of the hammer hitting the top lower portion of the disconnector and the hammer not being able to push down far enough. Weak or wrong spring in the bolt catch.

What kind of stock? Is it possible you have a rifle recoil spring in a carbine stock (tele stock)?

It's an A2 stock from Rock River.  Lower came assembled from the factory (or so I was told)  Buffer is correct.   That spring just feels stiffer.

J3, how would I diagnose (and fix) the hammer related issues?

Thx
