Here are 2 pics of the cam pin from my Bushmaster that has had 1370 rounds through it. These were all my handloads that are not hot. I've been handloading for ALMOST 50 years for many rifle and hand gun calibers, so I think I know what I'm doing. All shooting with this Bushy has been slow fire from a bench. I have been loading mostly 40, 50 and 60 grain bullets. Now the question is: does this look like normar wear or is there a problem? I did not have the pin maganfloxed, but with a magnifying glass the pin does not SEEM to be cracked, but I replaced it to be on the safe side. TIA for your input.

that looks like a normal wear pattern, but it seems to be a lot of wear in only 1300 rounds. What lube are you using on the pin? Ops

my cam pin looks similar. i'm not sure how many rds i have through it. maybe 2500???

I'm using Break Free on the cam pin and a dab of Outers Gun Grease on the mating surface of the carrier.

No, I can't feel a groove where it looks like there is one, nor can I see a groove with a magnifying glass.

keep an eye on it, that can be caused by too short a distance between the rear of the barrel and the inside of the barrel extension. could also be a soft cam pin or a miscut cam track.

I have the same problem with mine...I have about 4k rounds through mine so far. I noticed it when I was cleaning at about 2k rounds fired.

I plan in using it until failure. I dont know how loose or how "ground" it can get with out hurting the firing pin, or the blot carrier group.

I dont remember my Service M16a2 having this problem. But I got it now on my civi version.

I won't take the chance on "plan in using it until failure". I am playing it safe and have already replaced the pin. Thanks for your input.
