| Anyone have a double firing issue? I am geting 2 rounds fired with a single trigger squeeze. The rifle is a preban PWA. I tend to think worn disconnector. |

Had exactly the same thing happen on my PWA. I had it re annodized and the shop didn't use my original parts to reassemble. Used some cheap ass crap from who know where. I purchased a new DPMS parts kit, changed out the whole fire group, pins and all, and no problems since. -LS |

Not to steal Jmcneil's question, but I have a similar problem and the FAQ links are not working it seems. I have a factory post-ban bushmaster. -It has about 4-5k rounds of use. -It doubled 4 times in 1500 rounds at Gunsite this September. It was the first time I noticed this problem. -Since September, it has gotten worse, and now it doubles about every 3rd shot once the gun gets a little hot (after 30 rounds) -The second shot normally occurs when the trigger is released -The doubles are independent of magazine and ammo -The doubles also occur with different bolts -I cannot duplicate this with the gun apart and operating the trigger manually It appears to be a wear issue, and I was just going to replace the trigger group, but would like an informed opinion before I attempt it. Per Tweaks response, about what kind of gap am I looking for? (Paper thickness, 1/4 inch, etc...) |
All most touching to the point that inserting two stacked black pubic hairs will not fit in bwtween. If you find that the gap is greater than this, you will need to remove metal from the front of the disconnector where it rides on top/front of the trigger. Removing metal at this location will allow the disco to cam father forward, and the disco to retain the hammer longer during the reset stroke (allows the trigger to get into the correct position to catch the hammer, instead of the hammer being deflected off the trigger and allowing the hammer to fall on forward reset). P.S. Disco is Tweaks shorterned vesion for the disconnector. It's kind of catchy, and since he is my Hero, I have to use it too. |

Open the bolt and squeeze the trigger. W/ the trigger held down, close the bolt. Slowly release the trigger and listen, once you hear a "click", see if there are any more travel to the trigger. if the trigger at this point still feels loose, there's a problem w/ the hammer and disconnector. How do I know? My brand new BM had this exact same problem, scared the living crap out of everyone at the range. |
