I assembled my Trigger group and was function checking the hammer and trigger. With my thumb on the hammer I worked the trigger and returned it  several times after about five times it locked up. The trigger then has a small amount of play but the sear does not release. To get it to release I had to remove the trigger detent pin. When I replaced it it did the same 5 or 6 times then locked up. Any ideas what to do?

I'm going to take a wild stab at it,

My guess is that you have installed the lower FCG wrong.

Since there is just too may ways to get things sideways, and my guess is that you never even looked for the instructions on how to put one together, here is the link that will walk you threw it.

P.S. It's not rocket science, but you do need to lube the parts before you install them.

Also, since I just took a break from prepping brass/loading up 400 rounds of Match 30-06 for the Garand, if you still have problems, Tweak will be around shortly, and while rolling his eyes, point you to the specific FAQ that pertains to your problem.  Really, there’s a ton of information listed in them, just have never taken the time to go threw all of them.

This is my third build so I have installed trigger groups before, so I have looked at the assembly before, I also have taken the basic armorers coarse while in the military. All parts were lubed and installed corectly and I looked at all FAQ's and the basic installation thread. Thanks though.

If the hammer is retained by the disco and won't release there is probably roughness between the inside of the middle hammer hook and the disco. Smooth those areas out.

My thoughts would be to check the pistol grip screw to make sure that it was not pushing up on the bottom of the trigger and preventing the trigger from returning back to a full at rest position.

If you are using a non-factory pistol grip, then you may have to shorten the screw, Or add a few washers between the head of the screw and the grip.

Too much hammer to disconnector engagement?  I helped a fellow ARFcommer do a modified 15 minute trigger job on his Armalite and bent the hammer spring legs (to make the pull a little lighter) and then the disconnector wouldn't release the hammer.  Once I bent them back it worked great.
