FAQ II, under Bolt carrier "catching" or "hanging up". Like Tweaks once stated, Read, then post!!! |
|
My guess is either the firing pin collar is too large [cross diameter], or the top of the hammer’s contact pad is too high and catching the firing pin collar on the carrier’s way forward. The firing pin collar should be flush (or slightly smaller) that the bottom edge of the carrier (were it makes contact with the back of the carrier). If the firing pin collar checks out, then move onto lowering the top of firing pin contact pad on the hammer (the area that is catching the collar). |

Colt_sporter, I hope I didn’t scare you off. Even once in a while I have a bad day at work and it will flows over into my posts (it happens when you have Professional idots/ Grown emotional retards working for you). Sorry If I came off as a total ass hole and gave you the wrong impression of myself and the forum. Did you get the rifle up and running, or are you still having problems? Dano |
| A very common issue with 11.5-inch barrels. Can usually be traced to manufacturers using the same gas port size (too small) as they do on their 16-inch barrels. Port size too small=short strokes, Too large=beats the hell out of the weapon. I have spent more $$ than any man alive trying to get short 11.5-inch uppers to run. Lot's of controversy over the causes, but lessons learned tell me it's probably a gas port issue. Search the FAQ, and you will find the proper gas port diameters for 11.5-inch barreled weapons. |
