I have a 20in. AR-15, Bushmaster V-Match flat-top with DPMS rear 6/3 sight with JP front mount & lyman globe sights. My question is how to best establish zero. I do not know how to do it. Tried already, failed. Have access to 25, 50, 100, 200 yard range. Thank you for any help!

What range do you want it zeroed at?

More info than you'll ever need about zeroing.

Thanks Tweak

Answer your question, located Lynnwood, Just north of Seattle, occasional range practice on east side in Kirkland. My AR knowledge base is very limited, just learning and hoping to start some USPSA 3-gun competition next month. Unfortunately my AR setup has been a bit of a struggle somewhat, long story without the details. I am thinking most the range shooting will be 100 yards or less, with some occasional 200 yard targets. Most target acquisition will be probably IPSC silhouette (shorter distances) and steel targets. Guess I will find out huh? Probably try the IBZ method.

Are you located in Seattle area too?
Thanks,
Tony

The IBZ method is what I finally settled on.  You will end up being within 2" or closer at ranges out to and including 200 yards.

A 200 yard zero will work easily for 3 gun, 200 yd shots are pretty rare as a lot of ranges only go to 100yds. Talk to the other shooters, a few I know use 25 yd zeroes and hold over/under for the rest. A lot of IPSC rifle is close up/in. I'm near Olympia.
