What would cause the firing pin to dimple a live round slightly when cycling the action? I can cycle the action then pull the bolt to the rear ejecting the round to find a dimple in the primer. It shoots fine no other troubles. the rifle is a Bushmaster Varminter, and factory Winchester ammo. Thanks for your time O-S |

This is completely normal for a AR!! Since the firing pin is floating with no spring, the intertia of the firing pin will cause the it to hit the primer when a round is chambered. This is why in fact CCI make a primer with a thicker cup for AR type rifles!! For you info, when I reload I have used standard rifle primers without any problems Stuart |
