I have 2 colt pre-b slabsides. 1 has the black block, one does not. The one that doesn't have the sear block will let all 25 of my mags free fall when empty. The one with the block, is so much tighter that many of the mags are really hard to put in, or hard to wiggle out. Question: what can be done safely, by me at home to correct this problem if anything? Thanks for help. Searcher out |

Searcherfortruth. If it were my rifle I would remove the mag catch on the rifle and see if it was the catch or the actual Mag well that is tight. If it was the catch that was causing the problem, then a new catch may solve the problem (larger in non thread section). If you find that the well it's self is what is undercut, then I would just let it go and allow wear over time to loosen up the well/anodizing surface. Sorry I can’t be of any more help, but re-milling the mag well would require that the receiver be re-anodized and at that point, buying a new receiver would be around the same price as the repair. |
