I just bought a preban Olympic Arms AR and it came with an Orlite mag. It fuctions just fine with that mag, but when I got home and tried every other mag I have it seems to push the bolt catch up higher. When the mag is empty and I try to pull the charging handle it only comes back about an inch. I think the bottom of the bolt carier is jamming on the bolt catch somehow. When I put a loaded mag in everything works fine. If I don't have mag in and push up on the bolt catch it gets jammed. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!! |

shaynster, You need to pull the bolt catch off the receiver and check the spring and detent. Chances are that someone pulled/assembled the catch wrongly or clipped the spring. The catch is four parts. The catch, roll pin, spring, and detent. When you punch the roll pin out, the parts are not going to fly. So take your time, and if needed, order a new spring and detent, so you can replace/install them when you pull the catch. Also, I don't have a detent/spring handy, but maybe someone else can post on the length of the two, just incase the spring/detent was clipped to work with the orlite mag that had a weak mag spring.
