Count yourself fortunate.

Some guys local here are hitting buyers for $50-$70/ transfer.

Where I'm at best I've found is $30 for up to 3. Few years back I was looking at an AK47 online for $350 shipped. Local shop had exact same gun in the store for $450. I asked about them doing a transfer and the owner said yes we'll do it. I asked how much, he said, so you want us to do a transfer for that same gun there(he pointed out his in the rack). Yes, he then asked what I could get it for and then said the transfer would be $100 They still have the same policy on a gun they can get themselves. Needless to say I have never used them.

Great advice! Go with a known manufacturer. Hard to beat PSA on sale and the Anderson "poverty pony" lowers.

Vote Aero.   $59 at the local LGS.  Why not?

The LGS had a Savage stripped lower with CMMG gunbuilder lower parts kit for $90 out the door

The Savage lower was plain no rollmarks and plain lettering and the HK safe and fire markings. With a phosphate finish

I've used plenty of PSA, Anderson, and Aero lowers with no problems. The Aero's are a little nicer, but they cost a few bucks more locally.

I have also used a couple of the ATI MilSport aluminum lowers the OP asked about...LGS had "blems" of those on sale for $29...they went together just fine, and work great. They are actually "nicer" than the Anderson's in the fit/finish/markings department. And they were $29 win-win if you ask me.

Far more than 4 making lower receivers.

Aeros for ~$50 are commonplace.

Personally,  I miss the Anderson 3 packs for $99 shipped.

Primary Arms still does that occasionally, get on the mailing list.

Anderson, Aero, Spikes, PSA - all haven't figured out how to properly cut a fire control pocket.

Some of the PSA lowers are very close.
This M4A1 lower only required slight relief in the back, at the curve.

My first AR build was with an Anderson lower.  No problem at all, and fits a BCM upper perfectly - no gap, no rattle.  The lower was the cheapest part of my build, and the lesson I think I learned was that I don't need a lot of pricey parts to make a great gun.

Check out Gorilla Machining.  They regularly offer blemished lowers cheaper than Andersons.  My buddy bought 5 from them and said he couldn't find the blem on any of them.  This was the direction I was going to go on this next build before deciding to do my own 80% lower.

The next build will have an Anderson upper on it, even though I'm sticking with BCM for the BCG and rocking a V Seven barrel on it.

If I had the money to light on fire, I'd buy the ultra light upper and lower offered by V Seven.  You can shave considerable weight off the build for an extra $600 or so.

FWIW, and I'm not saying it's the most important thing, but PSA uses 6061 aluminum for their lowers; Anderson uses 7075.

Well, not so much. I apologize.

Where did you come up with that fantasy?

Listing of one of their lowers:

SKU: 12102019
UPC: 12102019
MFR#: 12102019

Material: Made from 7075-T6 Aluminum

Finish: Black, Hardcoat Anodized

Caliber: Multi

Fire Selector: "SAFE" (Safe), "SEMI" (Fire), "BURST" (Full-Auto)
PSA M16A2 Stripped lower

Before you accuse, you might do some research.

By the way, the original's M16's were also 6061 and I have a couple that are well over 50 years old and show very few signs of wearing out.

Some don't stipulate what they are, but there are a good many of them that do stipulate 7075

Well I'll be monkey's uncle. I could have sworn that was true when I was shopping for a cheap lower last year. Turns out I'm mistaken.

No need for melodrama. I didn't "accuse." I just stated something I thought I had learned from research I did last year. Guess I was mistaken. It happens

As you say, 6061 was the original mil-spec, so PSA wouldn't be doing anything wrong by using it. Which it appears they do not.

Most of the companies now a days are using 7075, not much difference in price and the durability is greater and of course that is what the customer is buying.

I know when I am building things for old boats I often use 6061 and it holds up just fine and I have a couple of Noreen's lowers that I used to build a couple of guns and they are 6061 and they have held up just fine.

But again, most everybody is using 7075 these days.

Pricing and lead times are a total cluster right now.

I've been watching for several months knowing I'd be doing this build March-ish, and parts that were dropping in price are jumping back up.

All the damned socialist gun grabbers are making their hated capitalist enemies filthy rich.

Tactical Machining, SAA, and Matrix are also worth looking at amongst the other common names, if you just want something different.

On the 6061 vs 7075, most if not all forged that I've seen are all 7075. Many billet upper and lower receivers are 6061.

I have built on Anderson, CMT billet, DDLES 9mm in 6061, and the Aero M4E1 (for my SBR's).  All builds have went fine.  I had a couple Anderson's that had a bit too much anodizing on the threads but it was no problem to clean up.  I am really liked the CMT and got it much less than they are now...I would not pay that much now.  It was a very clean and well finished lower.  The DDLES was a boutique lower.  I wanted a dedicated 9mm lower several years ago and went that route.  It was about the same as a good lower and mag block.  No problems with the 6061 so far.  I have bought up about 8 Anderson lowers for projects.  I don't see any issues with them so far.   Just get on some email lists and when they are selling them cheap jump on it.  My dealer charges $15 for the first transfer and $5 for each subsequent one.  That helps a lot, plus if you catch AIM or Brownells you can get them shipped free sometimes.  I think they were $33 this weekend.   Good luck.

I buy Poverty Ponies, no logo when Primary Arms has them on sale.

Never tried PSA, but I’m 30 minutes or so from Primary Arms, so I can pick up at store and not pay transfer fees.

I like using the DD grips, so I need open ear...

All have had excellent finish.
