| I have a Aero gen 2 lower. I also have some questions regarding said lower. Since it came tapped for a 4-40 set screw, should I use a shorter than normal spring for the take-down pin detent spring to compensate for the length of the screw? If so where can I buy one of the proper length? What material is best for the screw so as not to damage the lower? Brass? Steel? Teflon? Should I use loctite? |

I snip just a tad more of the spring off than the length of the screw and it works just fine. I used stainless screws and had no issues. |

If you are using a 1/8-inch long 4-40 set screw, then cut off 3.5 to 4 "rounds"/coils of the normal spring.
I like to smooth the cut end using the "spin-down" technique on a shop grinder. Place the cut end against the set screw. Spin-down technique is: 1) turn on the grinder for 1.0 to 1.5 seconds, 2) hold the spring tightly so it does not flex when you place it against the spinning stone; 3) place the spring lightly against the spinning stone. Once the stone nearly stops spinning repeat steps 1, 2, 3 until it is smooth. |

Or just get cutting pliers and snip off 1/8 of an inch, drop spring into hole and screw in set screw and call it a day. |
