Hey guys-

Hoping to get some insight. Recently purchased a 9" AAC barrel off the EE. Appears to be un-fired. It came with the gas block that was pinned in place. My question is, is it normal for the bottom set screw hole (just one) to be unthreaded? Can I get away with using the pin ONLY? I'd feel more comfortable also having the set screw in place as well, but can't figure out why that bottom hole would not be threaded? First experience with a pinned/set screw block. Thanks for the help!

Guessing the block has both for the option to use either or both. Pinned without set screw is fine and vise versa.

It's not a set screw hole.  It's a by product of drilling the gas port.  Set screw gas blocks reutilize it for a set screw, but all one piece gas blocks will have that hole.
