Ok, I told myself I was DONE building AR's for the long term, but I have the bug again since I picked up a couple of Aero Gen 2 lowers from brownell's over the weekend, and I of course have a PSA premium BCG I had as a "backup" bolt lying around AND a charging handle, so why the hell not just complete the gun (this is what happens when you have spare parts around.
I have had REALLY good luck with PSA CHF uppers and my wife's Freedom (the new freedom stuff actually uses 4150v now instead of 4140, a nice upgrade) pencil barrel and I can't complain. NOW, I'm just looking to spice things up a little bit and choose a different upper. I've been looking at some of Aero's M4e1 fully assembled uppers with their fat ass handguards for about $385 shipped ... now I have ZERO experience with them as a company besides stripped lowers (which have all been good), but I was just seeing how they are regarded on here and whether they're worth the price upgrade from the PSA freedome line (which is what they'd be compared to considering they both use Nitrided barrels vs. the chrome lining of the PSA premium FN barrels).... a part of me still wants a BCM upper (I'm waiting till the post Hillary loss catches up to them and they toss in the free BCG and charging handle like they did back in 2015, which would cut their higher price down quite a bit) sooooooo, long story short. Is the extra money spent on the AP M4e1 upper worth it? or do they have QC issues that I don't know about ? |
| I have used aero m4e1 and m5e1 uppers. They are very nice. Barrel fits nice and tight, barrel nut is a snap to tighten, and the upper to lower fit is very very snug. If your looking at a complete upper, the barrels they use are Ballistic Advantage, VERY good barrels and a 1moa guarantee. |

M4E1 and M5E1 are my go to for upper and handguars now. The cost:value:weight ratio just works for me. I also prefer the fatter handguard vs the new hotness of super slims. Bonus points that I can sink my F1 suppressor under them too. |

I have six of the M4E1 uppers and they are GTG. I have a mix of Aero and Seekins handguards. I would suggest, if you buy one, to back out the screw holding the FA in place and clean it, then screw it back in with a drop of Loctite.
The first two of my uppers had this screw back out while firing. I automatically did this with the rest. No more problem. |

ok, that's what I thought, I just wasn't placing which screw you were talking about. I'll have to see it when i get it and keep that in mind. I always keep blue loctite around for SOME reason lol |

Or schuyler arms. As far as the m4e1 upper, I am a fan. Just loctite the fa screw. Quoted:

| I don't think you will be disappointed with the fit and feel of the Aero M4E1/ handguard combos (unless you prefer skinny rails), and IMO the assembled look is as good or better than anything else out there. Functionally it won't gain you anything. Monmouth Reloading runs some pretty good deals on M4E1 and handguard combos. Gen 1 keymods with a M4E1 are on close out for less than $200 right now. |
