Why didn't anybody tell me how simple it is to build one?  I picked up a S&W a while back because it was so cheap and decided to build my own.  Picked up a lower and a kit and just sat down and built it. Now I need to get started on the upper.  This is too much fun.  I've owned guns for years but always wanted and AR15 and now that the prices are stable I think I'm all in. This site has been awesome for ideas and helpful info. Thanks!

building an upper from scratch isn't as easy and requires tools.

Very easy if you have a few specific tools.

I personally don't like using the word "build" or "building". I think it's more appropriate to use "assemble" or "assembling".

Unless you are finishing an 80% lower or casting your own, it's just assembling parts. Very easy to do if you're good with Lego's

Lol, Legos for big kids.

Same boat OP, bought a cheap Bushmaster years ago then actually "assembled" one. Once it was done I started second guessing myself and was afraid to pull the trigger. Worries about headspace and every other detail. Once I nutted up and pulled the trigger it went bang, bang, bang, etc.

I'm now building another AR15 and a 308AR (that's a whole nother animal).

I never shoot the BM anymore.

You start with one and they multiply like rabbits. I don't have any more room in 2 safes and still can't stop!

I assembled my first in 2012, I told myself that it would be the only one.

I just bought parts for number 6 today.
