I see, That would make sense. This is my first build if you cant tell. Suggestions on where to get it or what exactly to search to find it. PSA has the parts you need, or look in the EE section here on this website and you should be able to find them from one of the local users. You need a weld spring and a lock ring and delta ring, then you will need the FSB and it will have to be pinned to the barrel. You will also need a front cap that goes behind the FSB that holds the front clips on the handguard. Just be careful, those older triangles can be brittle and crack on you when trying to install them. |

The assembly is a Delta Ring Kit

Thanks for the info. FSB came installed on the barrel. Thought I had been diligent and ordered everything. Completely new to the platform though so I'm not surprised I forgot something. Can you post a picture of the whole barrel for us to look at? Full length shot of it from the side? |

So all my parts are finally here and I'm going to the gunsmith to have the barrel attached Wednesday. I have run into one problem though. I am going for a vietnam style build with the triangular handguards. My barrel came with the barrel nut but there seems to be no way to attach the hand guards to the barrel nut/receiver. Hopefully you guys get what I am talking about based on the attached photos. http://i.imgur.com/4FaYmlX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Hi7TwGL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vEIz01D.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hAgQViz.jpg M16A1 slip ring In addition you'll need the spring and snap ring. |
|
You also require the proper end cap.
That depends on the barrel. One of many |

Depending on exactly which model you're trying to replicate, a flat slip ring rather than a delta ring is actually more correct for a Vietnam-era rifle. They're reportedly real hard to work with, though. I'm not going for any specific model just the overall style. I don't have the budget for model specific accuracy. |

The triangle end cap actually came already installed on the barrel as well as the FSB/gas block. |

Here is a link to the exact barrel I bought though. 20" barrel I already know it's not the correct profile for an A1 style build, but it was the only non 1 in 12 twist 20" barrel I could find that already had the FSB installed with all parts, was in stock, and that I could afford. |

Did you order a gas tube from Windham also? Make sure it's the correct rifle length. They sent me a mid length when I ordered that barrel and the gas tube |
| Looking at your link, that should be a complete barrel with weld spring, clip and delta ring, and it should be ready to install the way it is, just take everything you got to the gun smith and he will get you fixed up in less than an hour with no problems at all. |

No, it doesn't come with the delta ring assembly. I got the same barrel a few weeks ago. |

Are you kidding me? Wow, I know who I won't be buying a barrel set up from! ![]() Good luck finding anyone else making a 20" 1/7 chrome lined barrel. Windham barrels are top quality. Who cares if they don't come with a $10 delta ring? They also sell a complete kit with barrel, flash hider, gas tube, handguards, and delta assembly for $270 if that's more your style |

The guy was under the impression he bought a complete set up to get his rifle going.... I buy all of my stuff separately, so I know exactly what I am getting, but I feel bad for the guy. OP, send me your address and I will put the rest of the require parts in a box in the AM and send them to you no charge. |

I think if someone is smart enough to figure out they need to buy a gas tube then they should be able to figure out they need a delta ring. If not, like I said there is also the option to buy everything as a kit |

OP, send me your address. |

I wasn't exactly under the impression that the barrel included the delta ring I just kind of forgot that I needed a delta ring haha. I got the gun put together Thursday. The only thing I lack now is the charging handle because the one that I had from brownells was defective and would get jammed up in the upper. Tested the same upper and bolt with a different handle and all was well so the brownells handle was just out of spec. My new charging handle from PSA should be here tomorrow. I've really enjoyed all my PSA parts the quality seems really good and they all ship either the same business day or next business day and tend to get to me in about two or three days. I really do appreciate your offer though, Thanks A lot. |
|
For anyone interested, here is the basically finished product. Just need the new charging handle to come in and hopefully in a couple months I'll have the but stock and pistol grip changed to A1 types.
