I have been searching for a physical AR 15 builders guide, IE a book I can keep on my workbench and reference. Of the most popular out there, many seem to be focused on the A1/A2 styles and none have been written before 2010. The highest reviewed one is the Competitive AR15 Builders guide by Glen Zediker. I'm looking to build a 6.5GR, 6.8 SPC and .458, all flattops, with adjustable gas blocks and some mild tactical hardware. Can anyone recommend a good, modern reference that could include some of the more common parts and configuration advancements that have been made in the past 7 years? Much Appreciated.

I own a copy of the "AR-15 Complete Assembly Guide Volume II"
I don't even know when it was wrote. Just checked, mine is from 2004 But the principles of the AR15/M16 really has not change that much over the last few decades, parts have been improved over the time, but the rifle itself has pretty much remained the same. What exactly are you trying to find out? I know my bench pad with a break down picture that I got in the mid 80's is still the same one that is being used today. |
