Hey guys,
what is a good distance to boresight (with a laser boresight) an at at?  50 yards?

If I boresight, I usually only do it 10-15 yards or so just to make sure I'm going to be on target when I go to testfire and then dial things in from there with the actual ballistics.

I do all of my guns at 25 yards for the boresight, then adjust as needed to a hundred yards, works out pretty good, understand the gun and how the parts work together with the correct ballistic charts will yield pretty good results.

That will get you close.  Then fire some rounds and see where they impact, then do the same @ 100.  Reference a ballistic table for your ammo and decide what distance you want your zero to be.  For a 200 yard zero you might need to be on @ 50 and/or 1" high @ 100, + or -, depending on the bullet weight and velocity, as well as sight height above bore.

I go from the back room to the front wall of the house. That's good enough to hit paper at 50 yards.
