I've got a BA Hanson .300 BO barrel and an Aero Precision upper as my first build.  As you can see from the pic this is as far as I can press the two together by hand.

Should I freeze the barrel, heat the upper with a heat gun (350F is the lowest setting I have) and press together by hand?  Should I wait for the Seekins MCSR handrail & barrel nut to come in first and use the barrel nut to pull all the way up?

Or something else like lightly sanding the receiver?

I've heard of a few stories with Aero uppers being out of spec. I just built my upper last week, my barrel was tough to get in at first, but I pushed and rotated at the same time and it slid in snugly.

It's tight, I got it a little further in a while back using CLP and tapping the receiver against this work pad.  I have a Spikes upper that it fits a lot closer in.

Have you put any Aeroshell 33 on the barrel extension yet?  A lot of times a tight fitting barrel will slide together with just a thin film of Aeroshell on it.
If you've already lubed it and it still won't slide in, put the barrel in the freezer for an hour and that should give you enough clearance to make it go.

Another thing to try would be to get a wood block, put it against the back end of the upper receiver and give it a few whacks with a hammer while holding the barrel with a barrel vise.
You can put the rubber thread protector and/or screw the muzzle brake on the end of the barrel to protect the threads and brace it on the floor, too.
MAKE SURE the index pin is lined up properly before you go that last little bit.

Personally, I wouldn't try and use the barrel nut to try and draw the two together, too may chances for something to shift and bend or shear off your index pin.
With the barrel nut on, you won't be able to see the position of the pin.

This is the fit with the Spike's upper, same hand pressure.

I do have Aeroshell 33 that used on the buffer tube threads, but I hate to get nearly there and have to seperate the two.

From what I've read...use mil spec grease on the buffer tube and the receiver barrel nut threads.

Barrelled! Thanks FB peeps and posters in this thread!  Used the freezer, heat gun, mil spec grease, and a urathane hammer.
