Someone (hmmm) managed to screw the front sight post down too far, bottoming it.

No amount of coaxing seems to get the post to screw back up, using a front sight tool or small pin to push the spring loaded button down and trying to turn the post.

I couldn't find a discussion of the installation or removal of the front sight post and don't quite know how to proceed.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd try soaking that sucker overnight with Kroil or something like that so see if it helps loosen it up. Gas blocks get HOT, and will cook off any installation lube used. They can kind of seize and get very difficult to move. If it's bottomed out, that probably makes it worse.
But yeah... try to soak it overnight with a good penetrating oil and try again (Most of mine are so tight that I have to use a bullet for the plunger, then pliers to the post to actually move the dang thing).

It's a brand new build.  So the gas block getting HOT is probably not a significant factor.  I don't think I had 10 rounds down range before I decided to dick with the front site.  I'll see if I can get it good and wet and try again.

Can anyone tell me if the front sight post can be removed any other way? It looks like there may be a hex/alan set screw on the bottom side of the sight.  I haven't had time to explore that.  I need to get to a parts diagram.  I'll mess with it some more tomorrow.

It's quite possible that an allen/hex head screw was threaded from the bottom of the FSB and tightened against the bottom of the front sight post.  High Power competitors often did this to remove any potential slop/movement in the front sight post.  Simple loosen the screw a couple turns and you should be able to thread the post out of the FSB.

Not on a standard sight, no. Unless you count drills or other permanent solutions.

Maybe a silly question, but is it an adjustable FSB? If so the allen screw might be the keeper for that.
