For my first AR build I used an Anderson Arms basic LPK w/o Buttstock/Grip and added my own.  It looks and performs fine I have no complaints.  It is what I would consider
a fairly low end LPK, probably no better really than a generic.  I realized this when a vendor at the last gun show had some lowers on display and I could just tell by looking at them that the LPK  in those receivers
were much better quality than mine.  Aside from going out and putting in all custom stuff (Like Giessele triggers etc) is there a noticeably better LPK kit than the Anderson I used?  I've been looking around
online and they all seem very similar from what I can see.

Thanks

Thay all look the same, but they don't feel the same...

CMMG is considered one of the best mil-spec LPK's.

I don't like the Anderson LPK's with the stainless hammer and trigger.

There are better options.

I'm inclined to agree at this point. While the hammer and trigger may be "stainless"  the other parts are not.  The rectangular plate that gets pushed out opposite side of the mag release button (And mag well) has rusted
completely out. Poor quality.  I won't go Anderson again for LPK.

I've had at least 3 of the Anderson LPK's with the stainless triggers so gritty, nevermind the feel of the pull, the notch in the hammers were so gritty the disconnector would get hung up and would not release.  The first was in an 80%'er so I wrote it off as stacked tolerances but the next one was in a Spike's and at least one in an Anderson lower.

But for $40, I can make them work for basic builds.  Otherwise, I usually stick with CMMG or ALG.

Ive had 2 Anderson lpk minus the fcg...zero issues. CMMG and ALG are all I buy now.

rusted completely out? I assume you mean surface rust? CLP solves that. Steel rusts, unless lubed/coated.

It boils down to "How much will you pay?"

Spike's Tactical offers their Enhanced Battle Trigger group which is manufactured from hammer forged 8620 steel. It will be damn hard to find a better G.I. TYPE Trigger group.

This.

I've had kits put together by one vendor who used mostly LMT parts. It was a lot better than a standard kit. One thing that I've noticed on some cheaper kits is that the take down pins don't seem as smooth too. Not sure why.

For a good kit if you want to use the trigger in it I'd look at one of the ones with the polished nickle coated trigger groups in it. I've used the BCM and Sionics ones myself. The triggers feel a good bit better than most "mil-spec" style triggers although not as good as a good aftermarket one. Still for around 100 bucks you get a trigger kit with an upgraded trigger, a winter trigger guard, and a better pistol grip. The sionics used to come with an ergo grip which is what I wanted anyway so it was a good deal for me(now they use tango down). It also had a cheap upgrade to an ambi safety which is helpful as I'm a south paw.

Others have similar options.

I've always used Colt without fcg, just got some Spikes without fcg and they are just as good in my opinion. I'll still buy the Colt's if they are $50 on the EE, otherwise $40 for the Spike's is a good deal.

I'm a recent convert to using either PSA or Anderson LPK's and dropping ALG QMS triggers in them. Doesn't break the bank and the parts you can "feel" (the QMS) is definitely an upgrade.

Same here.  I use CMMG's "Gunbuilder" kit which omits the trigger parts and grip, as I like to individualize the trigger and grip.

High quality and still affordable.

I think I'm going to give CMMG a go for this nice billeted lower I'm finishing.

Or...maybe ALG.  Seems to be the wife of Mr. Geissele with a new take on the classic trigger ??  Interesting!

Will take a serious look into both.

Thanks

the ALG is just a trigger/hammer combo.  you still need a LPK... when I put custom triggers in a lower, I get a whole LPK, swap out the trigger/hammer and keep for spares.  when I use a milspec trigger, I swap in/out trigger/hammer combos till I find one that has the right  feel.  I have a whole pile of LPK's to mix n match.

I like CMMG kits. PSA kits are hit and miss, IMO. Some are clean and smooth, some are gritty and mushy. I'm talking small parts, not the fire control groups, either. I only use Battle Arms selectors and Geissele triggers.
