| Finally got out to test my first build. Worked flawlessly. Shot sbout 300 rounds through it. I just finished cleaning it and my buffer looks like it got beat up by the pin holding it in. Has this ever happened to anyone. Im hoping i just need a new buffer this one i paid 20 bucks for tube and all. Anyone have any input? |

It's not out of the question, but it would mean your gun is out of tolerance. The buffer should not contact the retaining pin in normal operation.
More likely there's a burr on the rear face of your carrier, probably where the channel for the pin was milled. It won't hurt anything but it will mark up a buffer. |
| It "just" touches the buffer. Damn lower. Havent been fond of this lower this whole build. After posting on here and doing some more research seen an offset detent. Does anyone know where i can buy one and how they work or does anyone else have any other fixes? |
| Its more then just paint as it has texture. But its not being hammered it looks like just a light tap. The bolt and buffer mate but the bold doesnt push the buffer back. I think im going to go the offset route. The user above mentioned a different buffer. Ill also look into that. Never heard of that kind of buffer. |

Yup thats exactly what it looks like. Screwing buffer tube in one more revolution won't do anything, it's due to to out of spec lower. You can either buy an offset retainer pin for $15 or what I did was chuck the buffer in a lathe and shaved the outer corner of the buffer face slightly(1/16") One other solution would be to redrill the retainer pin hole closer to the FCG and sleeve it, or simply remove the retainer. |

Yup thats exactly what it looks like. You already did this below, and said it just barely touches the buffer. Close the upper on the lower with the pivot pin through the upper. The bolt carrier should push the buffer back while the upper is closing. If it doesn't touch the buffer while you're closing the upper on it, it means your lower is out of spec. lower is out of spec. The buffer retainer hole was drilled to far back towards the rear. |
