The specialized barrel nut on my Noveske handguards has some wonky threads. I need to chase the threads with a tap.
I hate to buy a tap just for a single job like that (and a new barrel nut is $50 when available).
Suggestions? Thanks!

I bet if something is actually wrong with it, Noveske would swap it for a new one.

Find a local machine shop and bring a six pack of beer. Make a new friend, get barrel nut fixed.

More than likely he will need to bring that 6 pack to a gunsmith instead. Doubtful that a regular machine shop is going to have the correct pitch tap.

They could single point chase the threads.
