| Hey yall, I live in King George, and the local gunsmith wants to charge the $50 to install a barrel onto an upper. No float tube, just the regular handguard setup. The barrel and bolt came from another project and are already headspaced. I was wondering if this is too much to chare for what seems to me like a simple service. |

In reality, for what I see charged in my part of the country(MT) that sounds about normal, which is why I bought the tools and do it myself. |
| Average shops in my area charge you for at least 1 hour , for the Smiths time then increments of a quarter hour for anything over. So $50 is about what I would expect. . At that Price point if you are even a little bit handy buying a barrel wrench and a Upper receiver block and watching a couple of Videos , might prove to be your best long term bet. |
| If you look at what most online retailers charge for upper assembly, $55 and up, then consider two way shipping/ins, you are getting a good deal. If you trust the local smith. Even if its just a barrel to the receiver they still charge you the full upper assembly, so have them do everything. |

If you feel like driving 2 hours to Winchester area I'll do it for ya lol. |
