Good morning all!

I've been lurking around the forums for a while and have decided to take BYO plunge. I've gathered most of the parts for my stripped lower (actually three different lowers, because anything worth doing is worth over-doing), and I'm wondering if there are any tips or tricks I should consider that will make my rifle more reliable or function better? I'm referring to things that aren't included in the Assemble Your Own threads here, like staking the castle nut and such.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated and thanks in advance...!

Lowers are pretty basic.  Just follow the guides and take your time.

A lot of people like the taped pliers for roll pins, I prefer to use roll pin starters.

Taping the lower when you install the bolt catch is critical, especially your first couple times.

Be sure to support the ears when you install the trigger guard.  You can break them off if you don't support them.

Lube your roll pins before you install them.  They will go in a lot easier.

Use a light hammer with a double brass / nylon head.  Nothing on an AR requires much force.

I recently saw a complete basic Mil-Spec rifle assembly video at Iraqveteran888.  Chad did the build and made it look very simple.  He used a few tricks with his vice, pressing in pins, but other than that, it was a very straight-forward assembly...  Take a look, and there may be some tips and tricks in there that could help you.
