When would one use a heavy buffer?
Who makes a light weight but sturdy M-Loc hand guard. |

I almost always start with an H buffer. They normally work very well across a broad range of applications. ETA: Milspec carbine buffer is the H buffer. It moved to the H2 buffer when they went to a heavier profiled barrel in the M4A1. So starting point for lighter weight barrel profiles should probably be H and if your using a heavier profile you might start with an H2. For the most part, either will work in almost all configurations. |

Everyone loves the chart. Personally I feel of your rifle ejects the spent brass and picks up a new round then it works and does not need any "upgrades". I don't think I would say that "Everybody" loves the chart, after some of the knock down dragged out fights that have gone on over the years over the chart!

I'm not looking to upgrade anything. Just wondering when to use a heavy buffer in a build. But I see it is more of a fix for a problem maybe?? If your rifle runs then it's fine. There is a whole Pandoras box of dwell time and your bolt will shatter because math. |
