[ARCHIVED THREAD] - First AR Upper Build

I have seen a few AR's Chambered in 338 lapua and I think I want to give building an upper for that a shot. I just completed my first lower, but I don't know where to start parts wise for an upper that would handle that round. I would prefer to build something on my own instead of buying a whole package. Any ideas or am I just crazy for attempting it?

I'm not positive, but I really don't think a 338 Lapua will work with an AR15 lower. Unless you do some sort of bolt gun. The round is way too big for the mag well on an AR15. I could be wrong though. Still learning all this.

The .338 Lapua isn't compatible with an AR-15 magwell or even with an AR-10 magwell.

There are companies that offer AR pattern rifles in .338 Lapua but they are much larger receivers.
