Greetings all.  Long time reader first time poster.

I am in baby step stages of my first build and was hoping to get some insight on my shopping list.  My budget is about +/- 1k but I have an ok connection with a local dealer that will give me some solid pricing on certain parts.  I went and picked up a Spikes stripped lower the other day so here is the rest of it:

Upper - Midwest
BCG - Black Rain Nickel Boron
Barrel - ESS 16"
Muzzle - BCM Gunfigher
Charge Handle - ATX Raptor
Handguard - BCM KMR 15"
LPK - PSA
Pin Set - Noveske
Buffer/tube - armalite
end plate -  Asap

Other than that the grip and stock are magpul but the above is what I am looking for feedback on.  If there is a place that looks like I am spending money where I shouldn't that could be better invested somewhere else I would appreciate the input.

Thanks for any and all replies in advance.

Just search First Build and not being a member you will find plenty of answer to your question as this has been asked a lot in the past week. Not trolling just this same question has popped at least two to three times each day in the past week. And the answer always comes down to build what you can afford or buy rack gun in  your price range and probably save money for what you want to build. If you want a top end rifle sub MOA rifle for under 1k it really isn't happening. If want you want a range toy then the base line models will work. Just depends one what you want the rifle to do. Sorry just a lot of first time posters looking to build and I finally had to say something. Mod's I am not trolling yet have seen this exact same post way to many time in the past few days and just had to point out there are many Sticky Posts that answer all these questions.

Really dude what you want is what you want, just try and do as much research as you can on all the different product thats out there to make sure what you want is finalized in stone, instead of buying something only to find out after that theirs something better or cooler.
Oh and be prepared to pay for what you want...remember the great thing about building an AR is that you dont have to get everything at once you can buy peice by peice according to your budget...it may take longer sure but in the end you will have what you want.
So far to me looks good except one thing the mismatching of upper and lower recievers...sure you can do it...but just keep in mind different manufacturers have different tolorences so when you mismatch recievers you MIGHT get slight issues with looseness.

After several builds it seems my recommendation would be to get a quality barrel from a company like Faxon, KAK, Ballistic Advantage or Green Mountain. I don't know anything about ESS. I am now replacing some cheaper barrels I thought I would be content with with quality now in order to get better accuracy.

When assembling make sure the barrel extension isn't loose in the receiver. If it is, shim to fit snug. Lap the receiver if you already have the tool or can borrow one.

Get a decent trigger like a RRA 2 stage match for under $100.

I don't go into expensive rails or muzzle devices. Mostly a costly cool factor and little to do with accuracy. Expensive NB BCG is another item I don't find much value in.

It's up to you what you want to buy... just some thoughts...

Thanks for all the replies guys.  I figured this was a dime a dozen question just looking for a little reinforcement.

Blowout:  Thanks for the feedback.  The Nickelboron only came into play when I saw the minimal price difference from the BCM BCG at the shop I will do most of my shopping at.  I will deffinitely look into the barrel as that is something I wasn't well versed in.  I have the trigger on my list for later down the road along with higher quality optics.

Any other recommendations on the barrels?  or feedback on the BCM BCG?

Thanks all

I have an RRA trigger and it is nice, however for $125 you can't beat the LaRue MBT.
