Help me find a barrel
14.5" .223 wylde or 5.56 M4 feed ramps 1:8 twist Lightweight pencil profile Mid length gas system .75 gas block shoulder I haven't found a lightweight barrel with the .75 gas block with these or very similar specs . I want that because I want to pin a minimalist flash hider on it so that I can't still take everything apart even with the pinned flash hider. Thanks |

Faxon GUNNER series is govt behind gas block pencil out to muzzle. Might help I love the concept of this Faxon GUNNER profile. But all the GUNNERS use .625 gas blocks. So once the Manimal low profile flash hider is P / W one can no longer remove the .625 gas block. The barrels come in at 1.2 lbs. very lightweight. I still may end up going this route, even with the Manimal F/H as I like the look of that skinny F/H on the end of the skinny Barrel. |

I haven't found a lightweight barrel with the .75 gas block Probably because by definition, a lightweight barrel has a .625 gas block. Daniel Defense changed to a hybrid type barrel profile like you describe: https://danieldefense.com/cold-hammer-forged-barrels/14-5-inch-chf-barrels/14-5-5-56mm-mid-length-1-7-lw-profile.html They're 1:7 like all good milspec devotees. 1:8 are relatively uncommon. Green Mountain has a nice midweight profile with a .750 gas block in 1:8 twist but they're 16". |

Only 3 ounces heavier than the Faxon with .625 Gas Block. |

Noveske and Centurion Arms, not really pencil barrels but they are lightweight with .750 gas block. That Nov$ke here needs to go on a diet.... 29 oz with GB. |

31 ounces! How is that light weight? Ouch! Also, doesn't specifically state what size GB. Other than all that, nice barrel that meets OPs requirements. |

Here is the 16", I would email them and ask if they still cut them for you. I had one a few years ago that Monty cut to 14.5 for me, one of the best CHF barrels you can buy. I think the 16" is like 26 ounces, so the 14.5" would be a few ounces less. Under the handguards is .625, the gas block is .750, and in front of the gas block is .680. The Noveske CHF, not the stainless has a .750 gas block too. Under the handguards is .710, the gas block is .750, and in front of the gas block is .680. Neither is a pencil barrel, but they are both considered lightweight. And Daniel Defense has a pencil barrel with the .750 gas block. https://danieldefense.com/14-5-5-56mm-mid-length-1-7-lw-profile.html None of these have the 1/8 twist, the 1/7 will be the most common. |

That barrel has a .625 gas journal...OP wants a .750 gas journal. |

The OP didn't specify light weight. I'm looking for a similar barrel, but lightweight is one of my requirements. My apologies for confusing the OPs original request. I love this forum.... very helpful posts. Thank you all! Edit - I see now the OP did specify lightweight profile... |

Help me find a barrel 14.5" .223 wylde or 5.56 M4 feed ramps 1:8 twist Lightweight pencil profile Mid length gas system .75 gas block shoulder OP, can you give me some insight on your requirement for a 1:8 twist. Why not a 1:7? I'm looking for a 14.5" barrel, but I don't have a specific twist requirement. I would also like to P/W a Manimal low profile F/H to the barrel - so a .750 gas block can slip on and off if needed. Also, I would like a NON Wylde chambered barrel. 5.56 only. |

I love this forum.... very helpful posts. Thank you all! As the OP, all suggestions are welcome. I am looking to build something lightweight. The purpose of the .75 gas block is that I want to go with a 14.5 barrel which requires a pin and welded muzzle device. If it has a .75 block I could install a minimalist flash hider which has an outer diameter of .75. This would allow me to still disassemble the upper if future wants/needs change. I may just have to say f*** it, and is somthing with a small gas block. That's just not my goal until I have no other choice. |

That rifle I purpose built for a coyote rifle though and the new build is a lightweight plinker more than anything. I'm open to options. |

If you want a stainless barrel and end up going with a .625 gas block, this is a really nice barrel. Mike Rock makes really good barrels, I had one on a Remington 700 in a M24 contour. Stainless Steel Match Grade Blank Length: 14.5" Twist: 1:8 Thread Pitch: 1/2 X 28 .625 Gas Block Seat .223 Wylde Chamber Mid length Gas System M4 Feed Ramps Proprietary Contour Bead Blasted Finish Weight: 1 lbs. 9.4 oz https://www.rainierarms.com/rainier-arms-223-wylde-barrel-mid-14-5-light-weight-rock-creek-blank |

All the stainless barrels I see are close to 30 ounces and the 1/8 twist. Stainless is not suitable for lightweight profiles. Please elaberate. I bought a ss pencil barrel from PSA. Stainless has much lower heat resistance and suffers much more rapid erosion as the barrel heats up. Lightweight profiles heat up rapidly. With an AR15 it would be very easy to cause a lot of erosion/damage/"wear" to a barrel in very short order. 410 stainless is stronger and more heat resistant than 416 so suffers less, but still not as good as CM/CMV steels. |

This would work perfectly with the Manimal flash hider.
Ballistic Advantage 14.5" Hanson QPQ. |

If I go 16" I dont have to worry about it because it wouldnt have to be pinned. I'm trying to go as short as I can go legally. |
