1) should the tube touch the barrel nut ? I have torqued the barrel nut progressively, 1st to 30 lbs, then to 45, finally to 55 lbs. II could probably get up to 70, but not sure that would bring the flat of the bolt up.

Also, the last gas block I installed only had 1 open side, this has 2. should the tube pin face the receiver or the end of the barrel?  I'm assuming placement will increase or decrease extension into the receiver

Would have also been helpful if Warsport had included said pin.

Gas tubes touch barrel nuts all the time on standard nuts. Not sure what your asking in the second question.

The 2nd question refers to the orientation of the gasblock. The pin hole is off center. The only other gasblock I have installed was closed on one end of where the tube inserts. So, it obviously was open end toward the receiver. This gas block, is open bothe ends, so should the tube pin closer to the receiver or the end of the barrel. one or the other will make about a 1/2" of difference in how far the tube inserts into the receiver. I didn't take a pic before I left for work. If I'm still not making myself clear, I will take a pic in the AM and try this question again

I understand now, the shorter side of the gas block where the pin is would go on facing the receiver.

Thanks, I had it the other way. My gas tube would have been short, thanks to you guys I dodged a bullet...literally.

I think I said that backwards, the longer side from the pin goes toward the receiver... I think you had it right.

Gas tube pin towards enemy.

The gas port in the block should be to the rear.

The pin can obviously not go behind the gas port, as it would then impede the flow of gas. The pin goes toward the front, the gas port is toward the back.

The orientation of the barrel nut in your first example is irrelevant.
