Looking to snag 3 or so lowers to toss in the safe.  Not too wild of Anderson lowers, so looking for something else.  Just anything reliable (which I don't consider Anderson) and at some discount for buying multiples.  Anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks!

What, specifically, is it that makes you think Anderson lowers aren't "reliable?"

At this point in time lowers are in higher demand than they have been in a couple of years and I predict prices will be going up before they go down again. Check into Aero or Spike's if you think you need something better than Anderson.

Multiple reports of them being out of spec, unthreaded (or not fully threaded) grip screw slots, chewed threads for the buffer tube, completely missing holes for the forward assist roll pin -- just a few things I've read over the years.  Hell, it's  $40 lower, they aren't Noveskes.  I get it, but I want something a little more upstream and reliable.

I sell them at my shop and have not experienced any one these issues. I did have one with some "flashing" on the bolt catch holes but it popped right off when the pin was installed.

The grip screw threads are a non-issue when you use the grip screw that comes with the Anderson parts kit or the screws that come with Magpul grips.

Even though I think your fears are statistically unwarranted I won't try to talk you into an Anderson if you really don't want one. Look into Matrix or Aero for arguably better quality lowers for not much more money.

Don't expect a volume discount for 3 lowers.  Maybe you can get your FFL to only charge you one xfer fee.  I picked up 5 from Tactical Machining for $50 each with the DONT TREAD ON ME lettering and Gadsden snake on it.

I'd be extremely skeptical of anyone complaining that Anderson lower receivers don't have the forward assist roll pin hole drilled through them.  To the point where I'd be pretty confident that they were morons and their opinion being worthless on all things firearms related .

That's me being an idiot and multi-taking.  Meant the bolt catch roll pin.

Fwiw grip screw threading is easy to fix, just use a tap and finish the job.  One could argue you shouldn't have to, but it's a 2min thing. I also tap the rear take down detent hole for a set screw if it's not already done. I can do that, and finish threading a grip screw hole in under 5 min and I'm taking my time doing it.

I had that on the last Spike's I built.  The Larue PEG has a shorter screw so it ended up not being a problem.

It's pretty easy to tap that hole a little deeper if you need to.  Had the same issue on my dad's Stag.

I get not wanting an Anderson, but let's be honest...it's the "value priced" stigma and maybe the rollmark, not unsubstantiated reliability rumors.

Half my currently built rifles are running Anderson lowers, including the one I would defend my life with. The pretty Spikes and Noveskes are in the safe.

The only lower I EVER had problems with was a...wait for it...Noveske.

Cheers.

Watch for sales around most holidays, you might catch some great deals on Aero upper & lower sets...I grabbed three matched sets (limited edition Freedom, Gen2) last 4th of July for $135 per set, uppers were with FA and port cover too.

Schuyler Arms is a big Aero re-seller with pricing well below Aero's MSRP, though they are in the midst of moving into a new warehouse so inventory is pretty low right now.

Personally, I prefer buying from Schuyler as they ship fast and have great CS, while Aero is a bit slow on their shipping...though Aero usually ships orders over $100 for free, so I can't complain too much, lol.

Be vigilant, you'll catch a good sale.

Every lower I have ever bought has come from http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/ ($90+ is free USPS 2-Day Priority Shipping)

My FFL only charges me $20 for every 3 lowers.

I have Anderson, Spikes, Mega, and Seekins lowers, all assembled fine, but 2 of the Anderson's have tight magwells and PMAGS will not drop free. For me, this is a non issue. YMMV

"I want the good stuff at the cheap price."

Here's an option:

Wait till the MEGA forged lowers are back in stock at AIM and use this coupon to get them for $109 each, shipped.

See how many threads there are about these not working as expected.

Who asked for anything cheap?  I mean never pass up an opportunity to insult I suppose.

I knew some retailers sell bundles and sometimes knock off a few bucks, all I was after.

Hope your day got better. You seem discontented.

Have you considered getting some 80% lowers and a jig?
