Hey folks-
We shot a friend's MP 15-22 the other day and my son loved it.  So I could buy one for around $400 (or a cheaper Chiappa).  Of course another option is CMMG conversion kit for my colt, or even a dedicated upper.

But would like to get thoughts on building a .22 AR.  I'm thinking I'd end up with a more solid gun that the S&W. Could it be done for around $500? Any suggestions on what parts to use?

Thanks!

I picked up this Tac Sol .22lr about four years ago, put it on an extra lower I had around, and then shopped around for the remaining parts.  It's still to this day minute of ground squirrel right out to 100yds.
This is a pretty good price, compared to Midway or Brownells if you go that route.

I went with a cheap'ish .22lr full build recently but it was beneficial to have Black Friday specials.

Had the lower
Taccom 16" barrel
UTG keymod rail
had the bolt carrier, just changed the collar
AR stoner lower parts kit without trigger
had additional trigger
Anderson slick side upper
Magpul MOE stock/grip
Cheap buffer tube, plate, and nut
Cheap mount and scope from Amazon

Shoots absolutely like a dream and is very accurate. I used to use a Ciener conversion but it wasn't as accurate.
