Looks like it's listing to starbord. That rules out over torquing. Was the upper new? Condition of locator pin key way? Did you try lapping the upper to square the face? Used upper. Pin key looked fine, there was a bit of wiggle side to side. Didn't lap the upper and it didn't appear to ever have been. |
| COULD be an indication of a loose barrel extension.....very unlikely but possible.....if you have an extension wrench try and torque it....but be sure to check headspace if it lines it up. If the pin slot is the issue, usually you'll have issues with hard locking /unlocking of the bolt carrier group. |

There was a little play in the pin slot so I am going to pull it again and see if I need to shim it. I also contacted the seller with the picture to see what they say It doesn't take much slop in the index pin slot for this degree of cant to happen, though it could be that the FSB was installed canted. What did you use to install the barrel? Reaction Rod style tool? Clam shell vise blocks? Other? |

Is the barrel extension clocked correctly in the upper? If not is there enough slop to line it up correctly and is the FSB straight then? I don’t remember how many clicks are allowed by the mil-spec for zeroing, but it sounds like you are way past it. Not enough slop to get it to line up. Knocked the pins out and lined the sight up. Looking through the pin holes I could tell the sight was canted when it was installed. As far as the zero, I have up at 25 clicks. The seller has sent me a shipping lable and it's going back. |
