Dudes,

I was finally able to do my first build, and I think it turned out great (assuming it works).  It won't be "complete" until my Warcomp comes in, but that should be sometime in the next week or so.  The overall goal was lightweight, but without sacrificing durability or reliability (basically, no lightweight BCG or weird buffers).  I suck at links/pics, but here's a couple shots of it.

The only real snag I ran into when putting this all together was with the gas tube properly clearing the barrel nut and sitting properly in the receiver.  I tried first with a BCM low-pro gasblock and standard BCM tube, no-go.  That gave me the "excuse" to try the V7 set-up.  That was slightly better, for whatever reason, but still had issues.  I ended up torquing the barrel nut in place and just slowly dremeling it down at the 12:00 position until the gas tube was no longer binding on the nut and getting forced into a weird position in the receiver causing too much drag on the gas key.  Of note, the tip of the V7 inconel gas tube was actually too wide to fit through the hole in the Balios upper, so I slowly sanded the outer diameter of the gas tube with some sandpaper and the "teeth" in the receiver with a file.  After a little work, it all went together without any noticeable binding.  Hoping to actually try it out this weekend!

Parts list below (no particular order).  The Cerakote is an 80/20 mix of Burnt Bronze and Graphite Black (completely ripped off the idea from another user here).  Since I don't have an appropriate scale, I have no idea how light it actually is, but it's definitely lighter than normal and well-balanced.

Looks very nice. What length rail did you use? I'm trying to decide length for my build on a 16" barrel.

Rail is a 13.7" SLR ION Lite MLOK. I really like it. the scalloping on the top rail makes the edges a little sharp, but it's very comfortable everywhere else.  It's essentially like an MLOK version of the KMR Alpha.

Well, she ran 100%! Definitely happy with it. It even ate steel-case Wolf through my Lancer and GI mags, which my Daniel Defense has occasional issues with.
