I'm new to AR's but I have been doing some research and now I know enough to be dangerous. I have been reading arf for a while now and I have seen that some of you really like PSA. While brand doesn't matter to me quality does. This rifle will be used to hunt, at the range, and as a truck gun. While I don't expect 1/2 MOA I would like to see 1-1.5 MOA. I want something that is inexpensive, not cheap, and accurate. I have picked out a complete upper and lower from PSA and would like opinions on them for the intended purpose.
$400 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-16-mid-length-5-56-nato-1-7-13-5-m-lok-premium-upper-no-bcg-or-ch.html $270 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-ubr-complete-lower-receiver-black.html $80 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/2321/ $27 - http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-ar15-charging-handle-molon-labe-w-psa-logo.html total - $777 + shipping + FFL What could I expect from this setup? I know only I can answer this question, but...would I be replacing parts (trigger, barrel, etc.) after shooting a few hundred rounds? I have yet to build an AR but I have caught the bug so I know I will be making it/them (bc 1 just isn't enough) "better" all the time. |

That's a great setup for the price. With that setup, you should be good to go for a long time. As long as you're not doing back-to-back mag dumps every time at the range, that barrel should last for around 10,000+ rounds.
Everything else should hold up well. You should expect 1000's of trouble-free rounds minus maybe having to replace the extractor or the gas rings on the bolt at some point. One thing you left off the list was a set of sights. Magpul MBUS would be a good start. Then maybe grab a red dot from Primary Arms as funds allow. Oh, and welcome to Arfcom! |
