Actually have a few questions about these...
Why upgrade from a stock/mil-spec trigger guard? What benefits and features do aftermarket trigger guards offer? What trigger guard should i look into upgrading to? |
|
the only reason I change them is that the stock one doesn't look good. I cerakote most of the ones I build and they just come out looking better
I use the Magpul MOE plastic one but used to use their aluminum one but the MOE is half the price and just as good I have never heard of anyone breaking any of them and if you did, it would have to be enough damage to wreck the entire rifle |

It is mainly looks for me but a little function as well. Most of the flat trigger guards are not finished very well and some have sharp edges.
The enhanced trigger guards look much nicer in my opinion, are finished much better and if you use gloves, allow more room. I have some of the Magpul aluminum and the Aero aluminum trigger guards. I prefer the Aero but you can get the Magpul aluminum for $15 and the Aero run $25. Their is a vendor in the EE that sells the aluminum Magpul trigger guards without retail packaging for $5 plus shipping. I have never tried the polymer Magpul but it should be just fine. |

There are two faded scars on my right middle finger that support changing stock trigger guards for upgraded guards. The scars are from the trigger guard ears cutting into my finger while I held the grip and manipulated the gun. I have kinda big hands, so the A2 grip tends to shove the second finger up against the ears.
I am slowly replacing most of my stock guards with Magpul guards. It's not a structured, formalized "replacement program," but when I find a good deal on the aluminum Magpul trigger guards, I buy one or two. |
A lot of the cheaper standard trigger guards are sharp, the only one that I know for sure is not a piece of junk is to buy the legit Colt one from Brownells. But it's $18
I prefer the aesthetic of the standard, and am replacing my newfangled ones and crappy sharp ones, but wish I could find a decent one that doesn't come with a platinum price-tag. |

It is different than the Magpul trigger guard that I have and has machining marks, could it be a Chinese made or other knock-off? |

I saw it, but I hadn't chased that EE listing down yet. That sure looks like a very good deal, but not by itself. Between shipping and tax (they are in Texas, like me), those only make financial sense to me as an add-on item. Quoted:

Western Sports says they were a bulk purchase, and Magpul does do that. And everything can potentially have some machining marks. If you got yours from Western Sports, ask them... |

| I use the Magpul Enhanced trigger guard. Buy them on Amazon for 13.58. Have on Magpul Polymer and it's fine, came with a PSA Moe lower kit. IDK why, but some of the reviews on Amazon show a knock off trigger guard, perhaps Amazon ran out and there's came from another source. Last time I bought 3, all three were in Magpul retail packaging. Just ordered two more. |

go pinless - no chance of breaking the ears - and pretty http://www.deadonarmsllc.com/TRIGGERGUARD.html shop around for best price This is my choice for "eared" lowers. IMHO, there is no other logical choice. Snap in, snap out, perfection. So what if it rattles a tad? Who cares. Actually, my preference for lowers is Anderson (cheap) lowers with built in trigger guard (I see absolutely ZERO point in a removable TG these days). However, if/when I have to deal with a "eared" lower... DOA is it. It's stupid easy to install/remove and the same cost as a MP aluminum TG. No brainer. |
