I just mounted a new Nikon P-223 sight - it sits just above the charging handle which now is hard to operate. Additionally, upon inspection the handle is being chewed-up at the front of the handle - its a generic BM handle.
I want to buy a better charging handle (beefier and better gripping) and looked at the Badger, BCM (Gunfghter), Ranier Arms (Raptor which I like) and BeatenZone. I welcome your advice. Any experience with the Beaten Zone Gen 3? Thanks in advance. |

I realize (on some aspects) it comes down to personal preference, but I've tried the standard mil spec charging handle, BCM's Gun Fighter (Mod 1 & Mod 3), the Raptor, and the M84 Gas Buster from PRI on both 5.56 and 7.62 ARs.
I keep coming back to the PRI Gas Buster with the Combat Latch on both, and that it what I currently use. I get good purchase with it, the lock up is good, and I prefer the combat latch over everything else I've tried. BCM's Gun Fighter is a close second, but due to being so low profile, I discarded it in favor of the PRI. I have caveman hands so the bigger handle area (ass end) on the PRI just felt better. Also, if you ever sling your rifle strong side, muzzle up on you shoulder/back, the Mod 3 will seriously dig into your side or get caught on loose clothes/gear. The Raptor was a bit of an odd ball. Again, I believe this is a personal preference thing---but while I didn't have issues with the Raptor, I could never really get used to the design, specifically the way the latch works. Most other charging handles use a latch hinged on a handle, in the case of the Raptor, the latch *is* the handle. When you pull back on the handle, the whole thing moves instead of just a latch on the face of it. It felt a little mushy to me, so that's another reason I favor the PRI over it. I will say the combat latch is a "must-have" on the PRI. The standard "big latch" that comes on it is okay, but if you have sweat, grease, oil, blood, or anything other lubrocating substance on your hand, your hand may slip off the big latch when attempting to quickly charge the weapon. |

Hoyle33 Nice set-up. My scope is at the same location but with P mounts. I am confused - what did you send back after a week? Thanks Thanks I sent the CH to AXTS since I was having issues with it and they sent me a new one within a week. I have a 4-page thread in AR Discussions about it with pictures included. Overall, great CH. |

I know my scope is low. I am using the standard 2 piece Nikon P Series mounts for economical reasons. Any recommendations here?
I have a Swan rail which I am not using which would help a tad, but the scope needs to be far back (same as above picture) for my eye relief and sighting. I do not have a front sight. I have a Bushmaster set=up. I am using an Armalite fiberglass free float tube, 2-stage WOA tuned RR 2-stage trigger all with an Oly SUM stainless 16" barrel in 1:10. |

Weaver makes 1 inch tactical rings (three screws on each side of the tube, for a total of six screws). Get extra high, they'll run you about 40 bucks, but they'll definitely be worth it when you can access your charging handle. Since you don't have an A frame, you probably won't need a riser. I'm not as familiar with some of the more discounted sites, so here's the Brownell's link. http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/rings-mounts-amp-bases/scope-rings/tactical-scope-rings-prod38908.aspx?avs|Scope%20Tube%20Diameter_1=1%20inxzzx&avs|Size_1=Extra%20High |
