I have not ordered anything from Bushmaster in a long time. I decided to do a build for my daughter and I found a complete Bushmaster upper with bolt carrier group, charging handle, and carry handle for $399 at Midwayusa.
I received it yesterday and the carry handle sight is very poor quality and the sight aperture even rattles. Very disappointing! I suspect that the carry handle is foreign made. I do not know 100% if this is a Bushmaster package or if it is something MidwayUSA added but the sight is horrible. In fact there is two reviews on their website with others having the same issue with the carry handle as I did. The upper itself looks great and the key on the bolt group looks to be properly staked. Guess I will need to replace the carry handle with something of better quality. I am just surprised its from Bushmaster? Anyone know if this is a Bushmaster carry handle or some other brand that Midway just happened to package with the Bushmaster upper? Thanks, T2 |

I called Midway, they said the whole kit came from Bushmaster.
Called Bushmaster, they said they were aware of the issue with some of the carry handles that left their facility. They stated they are switching suppliers so the carry handles are out of stock currently but they will send me a new one when they come in. I must say it was a very positive customer service experience. T2 |

I'm glad it worked out and Bushmaster is taking care of you. A lot of people bash Bushmaster but to my knowledge they use quality 4150 chrome lined barrels on their M4 type uppers and should be GTG.
Even 4140 barrel steel should be sufficient for most who don't plan on using full auto fire. |

"You've probably never heard of them." I'm only half joking. |

Glad it worked out for you.
From having worked on / modified these systems and since taking an armorers course with them (Freedom Group) I was told that the AR parts (Bushmaster and DPMS) come from the same supplier. I expressed my concern to the course instructor as I always run into AR's from DPMS that had quality control issues. I expect problems to come from both Bushmaster and (D)idnt (P)ass (M)il (S)pec AR15's. |

That's a funny comment on DPMS but probably not accurate. As a commercial assembler of rifles they probably source their parts from the same suppliers as most of the rest of the assemblers.
The only assemblers that would not would be ones that make parts in house. |
