| What buffer tube and spring for a 16" carbine upper? |
|
Please note that if you are using the Brownell's extension set (or anyone else's set) with an A1 length stock you will need to replace the stock screw with the shorter length A1 screw. Otherwise the buffer will strike the end of the screw on recoil. One of our members has some of the A1 screws on the EE: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_119/1409365_STOCKS_AND_STOCK_PARTS_COLT_A1_stock__1969_NOS__buffer__butts___Buffer_tube_screws.html |

Overall length of an A1 screw should measure around 1/2" an A2 should be around 1" http://www.shotgunnews.com/gunsmithing/the-ar-15-the-forgotten-buttstock-screw/ |

A good way to test is to take a known lower that is working with similar setup, and simply swap it with the non-functional. You can then narrow it down to a problem with the upper or lower from that point. |
