Hey everyone.  I have a lower built and ready to go.  I need an upper.  Im on a bit of a budget and because of the state I live in I cant just purchase any old upper.  I will need a bull barrel but when looking around it seems like thats an issue to find.  I was thinking I could build my own upper but I wasnt sure how in depth that was.  Any info on if there is any savings to building the upper yourself over purchasing one from some company?

If you're just building a single upper and don't plan on doing more, then there's probably not any real savings over purchasing a complete upper.

The real advantages come after you already own the correct tools.  Then you can purchase the individual parts that are exactly what you want and, if you're patient, you can wait and catch them on sale.
IMO..It's definitely worth the relatively inexpensive investment to be able to assemble the upper you want rather than have to compromise on certain features to purchase a complete one.
