Hey Everyone.  I scuffed up my Lower when i was installing the bolt catch.  Its not a big deal but i was wondering if a touch up paint pen like this one: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/379148/birchwood-casey-super-black-touch-up-pen-flat?cm_vc=ProductFinding would work to paint the lower and get decent results to help keep it from rusting?

Just use a black permanent marker. Aluminum does not rust

That pen should work fine, or some birchwood Casey aluminum black.

The pen puts down a paint which comes off with cleaning, IME.
Use the Aluminum Black product for best results...it chemically stains the bright aluminum.
For small scratches, use the tip of a toothpick to apply....takes a few seconds for color to set in.

What kind of lower do you have that would rust? All of mine are aluminum.

Aluminum doesn't rust, but it does oxidize. If the lower was in wet environment then that scratch would actually accelerate the deduction oh the receiver.

But you'd probably be fine with just painting it. I'd probably go with something tougher than a Sharpie. Maybe take this opportunity to cerakote the whole thing a new colour.
