I am building a 6.5 upper to use with my precision lower. The lower I will be using it with has a PRS stock and a SSA-E trigger. So far what I have got on order for the new upper is:
Barrel- 20" Black Hole Weaponry 1/9 twist, H-Bar profile, threaded, 416 Stainless, 264LBC chamber BARREL Upper Receiver- SSA (Aero Precision) BCG- Head spaced for my barrel What I need to complete: -Gas key- barrel takes a .750, I am thinking something simple so long as its steel and low profile. Likely YHM - Handguard, I wont be running anything on this upper except a bipod. I am leaning towards either: a) ALG Defense, EMR v1 or v2 15" ALG or b) JP Enterprise MK III Modular Hand Guard XXL 17.25” OAL JP OTHER LINK I am torn with the handguard decision, I like the extra long length of the JP for a few reasons: - I like having the bipod out towards the muzzle - I will be running a Vortex Viper PST 6-24 scope, with the sunshade on the scope extends out to the end of a 15" rail. I am thinking that a longer HG will help will mirage affect on with the scope. Anyone have any insight on that point? I like the look of a longer HG. I like the price of the ALG C) Muzzle brake. I am deciding between: A) Precision Armament M11 M11 b) Precision Firearms PF Anyone with advice on a good brake for a 6.5 build please let me know. |
