So I had a successful Javalina hunt this year..but after blowing a 5-6" hole in this gal with my 30-06..

..I decided it was time to finish building a little Pig Slayer I've had in the works. This is my first build and my first post, so go easy on me!

My buddy bought me a GIBBZ ARMS G4 Side Charging Upper for my birthday last year, and my FIL got me their lower for Christmas this year, so I had a head start on some of the parts. I ordered the rest last week. My list is as follows:

GIBBZ ARMS G4 Side Charging Upper
GIBBZ ARMS custom Nitrided BCG
Faxon 16" SOCOM barrel
Faxon Low Profile  Gas Block
CMMG Gas Tube
Yankee Hill Machine Flash Hider Phantom 5C2 Aggressive
GIBBZ ARMS Mid Lite Free Float Hand Guard
GIBBZ ARMS G4 Lower
ALG Defense ACT Trigger
CMMG Lower Parts Kit
TAPCO Buffer Tube
MagPul MOE+ Grip in FDE
MagPul ACS-L Carbine Stock in FDE

Im still waiting for a local Cerakote guy to restock..until then I keep going back and forth on Cerakoting the whole thing in MagPul FDE..OR doing the Upper/Lower in Desert Sand and the Hand gaurd in MagPul FDE to match the furniture. I'm leaning towards breaking it up a bit with the DS but my buddy just did a similar build in FDE and it looks really good.

I also haven't settled on an optic yet, but since it will be mainly for Javalinas and Coyotes I was thinking about going with a Vortex 1.75 - 5x32
I really like the magnification range, but if anyone can suggest something better with similar magnification and in the $150-$300 price range I would appreciate it.

Most of my parts came in last night, and needless to say I am beyond excited..I will keep you guys posted with progress and hopefully post some finished pics in a week or two!

I played around in photoshop to see what that color scheme would look like and I think it looks sick!

Check it out.

Wow, that's really cool you were able to do that.... It does look sick, although I didn't realize the DS would have so much contrast with the FDE... its still cool but I pictured the DS a little darker.

Thanks for setting that up for me.

I was finally able to put it together last night... Here are some pics of the finished product.
Still need to find an optic.

That's a really nice looking build. Unusual but cool looking and functional.

I'm no expert on optics, but what makes that  so much more expensive than the vortex 1.75-5x32? is it just the fact that it goes all the way down to 1?

I love that you led with the pig pic.  I wish more guys got out and hunted.
I like that upper receiver a lot.

Nice rifle, well done!

Correct, and supposedly with less distortion so you can shoot at 1x with both eyes open.  I work about 5 minutes from Vortex's headquarters in Middleton WI.  I need to drop by and see if I can look at one of the Strike Eagles.

Im considering throwing one on my kids 300 BO for deer this year because we see almost no shots over 150 yards where we hunt.

That looks SOOO sweet!! It turned out way better than the Photoshopped pic I made.

I LOVE the Gibbz Arms stuff! I need to get off my butt and post the two builds I just did with their stuff.

Oh and I also agree with bikedamon, it good to see more hunters out there.
