Planning to build an AR10 in .308 Win
Is the Handguard special or can a standard AR15 Handguard be used. Will it connect to the AR10 upper? Barrel will be 18" mid length for 0.750 gas block. |
| There is a lot of research that you need to do. There is no standardization I parts like the ar15. The two main types are armalite and dpms. And then in the dpms there is high and low profile. Most aftermarket parts are dpms high profile. But even if you go dpms high many recievers still use some proprietary parts mostly in the lower. I would recommend getting upper and lower recievers and lpk from the same manufacturer. Some companies like Mega come with all the proprietary parts so you can use the ar15 parts bin or lpk for the rest. Aero and Mega seem to be the most popular reciever choices. PSA is the cheapest but there a lot of "quirks" about them so make sure you get the right combination of parts. That being said if you do your due diligence than it isn't as big of a deal as a lot of people make it out. I researched for 2 months, ordered all the parts in 2 days, and completed the rifle in less than 2 hours with no real "fitting" required. |
