Finally built an AR to play with\home defense.
Pretty run-of-the-mill:

Del-Ton M4 upper kit
Palmetto LW stripped lower
Magpul MOE+ grip OD
Magpul MOE M4 handguard OD
Magpul MBUS Gen 2 rear sight OD
Primary Arms Classic 30mm Red-dot
MOE polymer 7-slot rails for the handguard
I plan to mount a Surefire 6P to it.

The build was easy.  I've stripped\cleaned enough M16's and M240's in the military to be familiar with the AR.
I'm totally satisfied with both the Del-Ton upper, and the PSA lower.  Both are quality pieces for what it is.  What can I say about Magpul...awesome. The MOE+ grip fits my mitt well, has a great feel and fits the lower perfectly.  The MOE handguard fits great and is very comfortable as opposed to a quad-rail..  That's why I went with it and only want to mount one 7-slot rail for the Surefire.  Nice piece that stays cool.  The MBUS was easy to install and easy to zero.  It's not as sturdy as I'd like it, but it stays put on the rail.

Took it to the range to zero it today.  I was using Winchester Target and American Eagle XM193.  The Winchester seemed more accurate than the AE, but I only fired 40 rounds of each at a zeroing target at 15 meters.  I used less than 20 rounds of Winchester to zero, firing 3-round and 5-round groups.
I'm not sure I like the MBUS sight because I had to adjust the front iron sight almost all the way down to bring the shot groups up far enough.

Overall it was worth every penny.  I'll frequent the ranges with it for fun, and I'm also teaching my son to handle a rifle and become comfortable with making it second nature to use.  He's only been exposed to Skeet & Trap with an Ithaca over-and-under and he's a natural shot.
Del-Ton and Palmetto get my vote!

Damn 2000 character limit...

Like I said, run-of-the-mill AR.  I don't like quad rail systems unless yer gonna add 14 accessories, or plain black!  I had enough of plain black guns for 21 years.   I went with the OD furniture because it's more subdued than other colors and adds contrast.  You can't be TOO stealthy!

Unfortunately I'm stuck with a 10-round fixed mag.  But that's fine.  I don't plan to live in this state much longer but I am buying an enhanced take-down pin to make it easier to load.

One thing I didn't like his how my middle finger rubbed the trigger guard area in front of the grip.  I'll probably put a thick coat of black Plasti-Dip on that area to soften up the edges.  I'm looking forward to sighting in the red-dot.   I've never used one so I'm going to have to learn how to sight the lower third method as well as without it.

Here you go OP:

nice stick, congrats!

p.s. your rear BUIS is on backwards and is kinda far forwards (edit: it might just be that it's on backwards that is making it look so far forward). just an FYI

Thanks for fixing that...guess I need a certain number of posts before pics will post.

Oh...the sight?  LOL!  I know.  It WAS on backwards when I took the picture.  I installed it in the parking lot at work yesterday morning in a hurry.  It was quickly swapped around.  It's mounted in the 3rd or 4th slot now, but I think I'm going to play with the distance next time I'm at a range.  Good catch!

Thanks guys... after looking at all the color choices, the OD presents itself the best to me.  Must be the 21 years in the AF and Army stuck with me.

Plus I see so many desert colors or sand colored paint jobs.  Why?  Unless you live in the southwest in the desert.  Plus I like to be different.  I own a '69 Camaro, as do a million other people, but I like to modify and change things up in the opposite direction as most people because they're becoming cookie-cutter cars as well with their popularity in the hobby, like the AR platform.

As far as the stock goes, I will most definitely be putting a Magpul OD stock on, but I can't decide on which one!  That's why I haven't yet.  So many choices... I'm waiting for a good sale on their ACS stocks.  A good sling is on the list as well.
