I would like to extend a grateful thank you for your informative comments on AR-15 components in this forum.  It was my go-to source for selecting components for my current build.

I started with a locally purchased Anderson Lower receiver and SAA LPK with NiB Trigger and Speed Hammer for ttl. $159.00.  I bought a Hogue Overmold pistol grip from another local shop for $24.00.  I initially used an Ace M4 SOCOM stock from my basement parts bin...my bad.  The Gen 1 had a tendency to collapse every time you pulled the trigger.  The Mfg. fix was to place a solid bolt in adjustment detent (defeating adjustability).

After painful deliberation, I chose an Aero M4E1 Upper Assembly for $420.00 (http://aeroprecisionusa.com/aspx/store/productdetail.aspx?pid=343).  Aero advertised a 10% discount for military.  After paying for the upper I found out this discount is only applicable to individual parts. Even though the part was "In-Stock" it took them several weeks to ship it.  Upon receipt, The upper would not fit my lower.  The aft push-pin hole on the Aero upper was not uniform and did not line-up with the lower.  So much for precision.  Should I ship it back, and wait another month to have it replaced?  I took a jewelers file and carefully removed enough aluminum from the lower part of the hole for a nice tight lock-up.  Yeah, not an easy decision.  Really nice things about the upper assembly is an A2 contour,  1/7"-twist rate, low-profile gas block, CrMo Barrel with QPQ (Melonite) finish.   Mid-length gas tube. 15" KeyMod free-float handguard and the most unique M4E1 system for barrel and handguard mounting that provides a continuous rail and strong lock-up.  Still pretty happy with it.

The Saint Croix Tactical NiB BCG (http://www.stcroixtactical.com/collections/ar15/products/sct-nickel-boron-bolt-carrier-group-ar15-m16) at $99.98 (w/free shipping) was too much to pass up.  It took SCT three days to get it on my doorstep.  Exceptional product and service.

I'm a southpaw so decided to get an Ambi charging handle.  Decided on the BCM Gunfighter Ambi.  Since I got a $25.00 Amazon gift certificate for Christmas, decided to shop there (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JAP5Y8E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).  Cost to me was $44.90.

My next venture was purchasing a sighting system.  I was starting to get a lot of heat from my new wife on all these strange parts purchases (my previous wife's lawyer got my last gun collection).  #2 was raised in Europe and can't understand our American fascination for firearms. Her former country depends on U.S. of A. along with NATO to provide for their defense.  Back to sights.  I had to be economical.  I chose a set of MAGPUL MBUS Pros from Tom's Tactical for $128.95 /free shipping (http://www.tomstactical.com/Magpul-MBUS-Pro-Front-Rear-Sight-Set_p_57.html).  Very quick delivery!!!  My local big retail sporting goods store carried Vortex and had a storewide 10% discount sale.  I purchased a SPARC II for $189.53.  Set the SPARC II up with absolute co-witness.  Works as advertised.

Went to the range for 1st time last Sunday to sight in my optics.  My AR functioned well except for the buttstock collapsing every round.  Decided then to purchase a Hogue Overmolded M4 stock.  Went to CheaperThanDirt.com for the stock (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/2-HO15040).  After adding a Mil-Spec buffer tube, castle nut, locking plate and shipping, cost was $84.95.  Retained original buffer and spring.  Should be waiting on my porch when I get home tonight.

This is my range gun.  I will probably add a 1-4x scope, + ambi-controls for safety and mag release.

It will be sitting in my safe if the SHTF.  I hope that day never comes.  After visiting many countries lacking basic amenities, I like my electricity, clean water, AC/Heat, FIOS, decent roads, and well-stocked supermarkets.  As a country, we have many things to be thankful about.  We also have the right to vote.  About time to exercise that right

Will post a picture when I get my new stock installed.  Again, thank you!

guys I just signed up and I'm new to forums. I am having some trouble.
I purchased a Windham weaponry Src ar 15 about 8 months ago. Ask my girlfriend to purchase me a UTG 14 inch free float rail for Christmas. Finally got around to trying to install it and found out Windham's barrel nut was modified from the factory to increase durability and strength it is larger than standard AR 15 barrel nuts. So my $100 free float rail will not fit my rifle.

so my question is, am I totally screwed?
or would replacing the upper receiver be my best bet?

One of the reasons I chose the M4E1 was barrel nut/gas tube timing:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlhWTtC4B1o
