Hi everyone,
First time to post in the forums.
This is my first AR and I decided like many others to piece and build it myself. So far I have an Aero Precision lower receiver and LPK I put together. I scatter brain over misc pieces and am not sure my next but in the order of operations, am thinking about the upper receiver and handguard most recently, not in order of any importance, but because I have been thinking about the Aero Precision M4E1 Enhanced Upper, I understand it only accepts mostly BAR handguards so I have been trying to narrow my hanguard interests and thinking if the M4E1 limits me too much. It doesn't seem to clearly state on their site what the minimum inner handguard diameter would be so I can search accordingly but researching, looks like the handguard they suggest for it has an ID of 1.8". Anyone know if 1.75 would fit or have recommendations on different free float guards(15", not quad rail) that would fit or would just maybe recommend maybe just their normal upper so not restricted?
Thanks for the help and pardon the lengthy post. Apologies if in wrong area.

I'm not sure on that upper but just installed the Midwest Industries Gen 2 SS rail in 12". It's a super slim rail. Pica tiny only on the top. They are having a deal on their low pro gas block. It comes in 15". This was put on my M4 copy. Looks and feels fantastic. Huge upgrade over my 7" carbine Magpul MOE hand guard

The M4E1 while a very nice system, does limit you to handrail options. The rail that Aero sells to match up is on the larger side, (similar to a Spikes" BAR or Headdown Provectus). 1.8"  ID. more or less.
Placing rail covers on most narrower design rails actually places the OD. in similar territory.

Nothing wrong with either rail, just want to clarify that neither is a "slim" design.

I believe the Spikes' SAR may work and will give you a smaller diameter albeit with a quad rail  and not Keymod/Mlok.

@OP

Why not just buy the handguards from Aero?   Maybe not as stylish as others but they are very light and strong.  I have a set of the 15" Keymod's, and Im happy with them.  Only down side is they might be a little "fat" for some people.

Thanks for the responses and advice! Yeah, the main thing for me is the size(smallish hands). A little in style preference as well, which I don't want to be too limited in so I may go with their standard upper. I noticed Fortis seems to be coming out with a REV II rail with 3 Kmods instead of being quad rail. It's of course too small for the M4E1. There are other hand guards I believe large enough for it so decisions decisions...Gives time though to save up after Christmas drained the wallet. Thanks again for the help/advice!
