Hey there all. First post figured I'd drop a line and introduce and talk a little about why I joined. My builds......

First off the name is Jonathan. Big fan of firearms and shooting. Have a military background family(grandfather, father). I've been shooting most of my life though most has been centered around handguns (1911's) and shotguns though I did have chances to shoot various rifles here and there. Once I started buying handguns for myself I found that I was always purchasing or building 1911's. I just love them no other reason although an M&P shield is my EDC. Along the way I picked up a Sig Scorpion Carry 1911. Over the years its been my go too training weapon having run 23k rounds through it at this point. I do carry it on occasion when the clothes allow but it has a lightened trigger and currently a threaded barrel so I tend to not carry that much anymore. After threading her I added a Silencerco Osprey 45 to the family and sent in the papers. After a few horribly long months I had my stamp back and my new can. Was a very happy man. After having put many rounds down range in quietness( I won't say silence because well a 45 in a can isn't silent. Even wet), I decided it was time to add an AR to the family.

So I went through the paces of looking at ALL the many AR's out there and in the end had decided upon a Sig 516 Gen 2 NATO and an LWRC PSD in 300Blk. I wanted the sig for a general rifle for me to experience more medium and longer range(won't say long as I'd prefer to build a nice bolt action) shooting and gain experience. I wanted the PSD for home defense / training weapon to run classes with. That was the general idea.  Then along the way I decided if I'm going to essentially be stuck with this SBR I might as well build one exactly how I want it. So if I'm building one why not build both guns ideally exactly how I want them piece by piece.  So the journey began on what I would like parts wise.

So I can only do 2000 words as a new poster so I will have to post in parts.

I am by no means an AR expert and will gladly take opinions on what I've chosen so far and what I would need in the future. Ideally I'd like to buy something that isn't going to fail on me. I'm not building these to just be "another ar' in the safe. I want to actually run the guns and believe I can trust them in the event the SHTF. I have no issue spending more money on something if it warrants it with either a more solid part or a better performing part. I won't buy something just because its the most expensive. Not my thing. That being said I am a southpaw so some parts and choices will be more obvious then. Now onto the builds.

The first is a 10" SBR in 300Blk
The base for this is a Spikes Hellbreaker lower. I know many people can't stand them but I've always l loved aviation and the mouth has drawn me in from the P-40's to the AT-10's. So I fell in love with the Hellbreaker. Since it is so unique I figured might as well make this my SBR since I have to get It engraved. I have no plans to ever sell the lower. I figured I would use the spike enhanced LPK for no other reason then it's going into a spikes lower. I'm not brand stuck on that. I then decided I would use a CMC flat trigger which is what I run on my 1911's. So I figured scrap the enhanced LPK and just get the standard spikes LPK. Raptor charging handle for the ambi along with a BAD ASS ambi selector in standard 90degree as I don't beleive the Hellbreaker can accept the 50 degree short throw. I also will be adding a magpul bad lever. I got the chance to use one and for me made life easier. I was also going to use the Spikes buffer tube kit t2 buffer. Again spikes seemed worth just matching up with. If something is better for 300blk short please by all means let me know.

Also will be attaching a Noveske K-9. Having trained a lot in one hand scenarios I can see this being extremely functional in a worst case one hand situation. I've tries a few stocks and found my face meets up well with both the Magpul ACS stock and the LaRue RAT so I'm on the fence. Again all suggestion are welcome pics are greatly appreciated if your naming something diffeerent. Of the grips I've handled the BCM mod 2 with a med back strap on was fantastic. So that's been in the direction I've been going grip wise. I've had really no preference as far as an upper receiver goes. I wanted to match it with something billet also to keep the Lower and upper billet pieces. Barrel and gas system I'm very open to though I want adjustable as I do plan to run a can. Probably the osprey with subsonic ammo until my Silencerco Saker 7.62 arrives. Rail system I'm pretty open to again but I want full length barrel I want 10" was fairly open to brands. Sights I figured magpul flip ups as backup as I plan to run an aimpoint for optics. BCG pretty open to again but have a deal locally for Spkies NIB for $150 but again am open to any and all suggestions. What functions well.

Build #2 is a 16" 5.56
Lower is a San Tan Tactical STT-15 with BAD-ASS 50 degree, BAD ASS take downs added as pre installed options. LPK I was completely open to. The grip and stock will all be the same as above. The upper will be a complete Warsport Lvoa. Raptor charge handle again. Buffer tube and basic bits same as above unless better suggestions. CMC flat trigger. I'm going to have an Aimpoint magnifier on a LaRue quick mount to use with the Aimpoint red dot from the SBR when not in use. I'm sure my overall optics situation will be fluid in that I'll try a few things.

I guess that's about it for now. If I'm missing anything again feel free to jump in and mention any suggestions. The lowers and upper LVOA I'm pretty dead set on. Everything is fairly fluid. Thanks in advance.

Any opinions? Still looking for barrel options for the 300 10".

Well I ended up ordering a Noveske 10.5 with low pro gas block pistol length. After much reading I see adjustable gas blocks on SBR 300's isn't recommended.
