I'm roughly 90% done with my SPR build, and I have two concerns at the moment.
1. Grip wiggle- I installed a Magpul MOE + grip on the build. Mega Arms forged lower, and the grip wiggles on the gun. Not a tremendous amount, but it is noticable. I used the Magpul hardware, and there is no more room to tighten the screw. Also, the saftey functions smoothly and properly, so I don't think anything is kinked in this mechanism. 2. Upper/lower wiggle- I went with a Mega Arms upper as well to ensure the best fit between the two. When the reciever was stripped there seemed to be zero play. Now that the barrel, gas system, and rail are installed there is noticable wiggle between the two. I'm going to install yes tensioning screw, but it's a PITA to install and adjust without taking the grip apart constantly. Any body experience this with a forged Mega upper/lower combo? |

One could also try a shorter length screw. If you're handy, just carefully run the appropriate tap. 2. No experience with the mega parts you mention. The upper and lower will never monolithic, even on the best rifles. The amount of "wiggle" is really a personal preference. I have seen spring loaded set screws, remember and usually this is the case, the pitch for the tensioning screw is the same 1/4-28. |

I'll take it back to the shop and run a tap. Is there a depth spec I should check for? I'll also run the tensioner in and examine wiggle. As long as the screw seats far enough in. There a plug tap made with an undersize shank that will literally tap the entire hole. Also make sure that the screw will not exit far enough into the lower, the rear of the trigger may touch it. |

For number one, I have a Magpul MIAD kit. I had the same problem with the grip wiggling and there was space between the grip and receiver. The grip would wiggle foreword and backwards and there would be a noticeable gap.
What I did was: clean the threads of the screw. It has loctite on it(the blue stuff) and it was hard for me to tighten it all the way down. Then I also got some sand paper and sanded the top surface until it met the receiver with no gap or wiggle. All done. As for your upper to lower wiggle, no idea but it won't hurt anything. |
