I ordered a Mega GTR-3H billet lower last Monday, and after my local FFL played a little phone tag with Mega to become a distributor, It was shipped THIS Monday. Hopefully I get it this week, as I don't think I could bear the heartbreak of having to wait any longer..
However, this being my first experience with an AR platform I came and registered hoping to get a little aid from the fine fellows at AR15.com.
I figured that starting off with building my own from the bottom up would give me more insight on the function and operation, help me better understand the rifle as a whole, knowing each and every part thoroughly. I have a pretty solid Idea of all the parts I'm going to use, but as I've said, a little help can't hurt. I will be posting pictures at each and every step of this build, until my first shots.
Anyways, I hope I can count on one of the internets most renowned groups for any (very likely) speed bumps along the way.

Welcome Tom.  Assembling your rifle is the best way to ensure you get the parts you want and to become familiar with the operation of each component.  Post pictures and questions along the way.  Most of the forums here should offer up good advice.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I've been desperately fighting the urge to sell a couple M&P's to help fund this to get it done a little faster, I just can't bring myself to do it.

Take your time with it and make sure you get the parts you want.  Great receiver to go with by the way they are my favorite I have 5 of them.

I'm going with the Mega billet upper to match it up, took forever for me to decide on which handguard to use. I wanted one that would flow well with the upper, so you might be able to help me with that! So far, what I'm leaning towards is the geissele MK8.

You make me feel a little more steadfast in my decision not too, thanks!

You've certainly chosen some quality parts for your build.

It will take me significantly longer to complete the build, but I'd rather that than "settle" on parts I'll probably change out eventually anyways. I'd rather be patient and know I won't regret not getting the boomfab BCG.

They look good! .308 on top?I haven't heard a single negative thing about Mega. Looked into their adjustable trigger, and I love the way it looks. It's either that or the Geissele SD-C. With the rather large gap in price I'm thinking that the SD-C would be a better choice, but anyone with any experience on the two, your thoughts would be appreciated!

One thing for sure is you can never go wrong with geissele. I have four of them but I have a mega that is not built yet and I'm thinking of slapping one in there.

The one thing I'm really excited about is the actual process of building it. I've always been a gear head and a tinkerer, and when I turned twenty I bought my first gun off of a friends uncle, an SKS. Since then it's been an absolute obsession, and when I got into AR's I lost a few nights of sleep thinking about it, to say the least.

I think I'm beginning to agitate my local FFL calling everyday to see if it came in. No more ammo bonuses for this guy.

Looking at a Noveske barrel with the switch block, mid length, but I need help. I want to know if it will fit under a geissele MK8, or a Franklin FRS. It looks high, and I've yet to see it utilized under a hand guard. I'm getting an osprey 9mm suppressor for my M&P core, and want to use it with my rifle, utilizing the fact that I can negate the action.
