I was refinishing a set of GI mags and I found rustoleum dark taupe to be a good match for FDE.  Most of those paints dry in minutes.  That stuff has been on there 7 hours with a FAN and still tacky?  WTF  Best way to get it off to retry a different can?

on metal only, it'll be Dasco paint stripper.   that stuff is DANGEROUS though.   but the paint will literally fly off pretty much.  Wear gloves, goggles, long sleeves.  If you get it on you, I'm pretty sure the MSDS says "die now"

I use Aervoe and its works really really good.

There was another thread not to long ago where a guy was having issues with paint not drying on his rifle. My guess is it was rattle can also. I can't remember the details. I'll have to try to search for it.

Here's the thread I was thinking of. I'm not sure how relevant it is to your situation.

Mineral sprites should take it off.

Picked up some citrus paint stripper.  Pain in the ass is reprepping everything once I get it all off.  Picked up another can, hope this one works better lol.  Side note this dark taupe really does match FDE well and it is flat

Is it humid in your AO? For getting nice paint finishes, I like curing the paint in an oven at warm. After 30 min parts usually come out with a smooth and hard finish. Just be wary of putting plastic or rubber parts in, especially if they will sit on a rack near the heating elements.

B12 carb cleaner sure makes quick work of rustoleum.  Primer part 2 drying now.  I picked up some clear ceramic engine enamel.  I thought it would protect the paint better, jut not sure how well it would bond to the other paint.  I use the black engine paint to refinish guns and it is super durable once cured.

Did a test spray with the new can on something else while the primer dried, not looking so good.  I looked at the can and think it is the same batch.  While it does not match as well I may just use the ceramic cummins tan.  It is a gloss bot not too bad and will be durable.  Give things a little more time and see, as least I know the cummins tan dries properly.

I try NOT to buy RustOleum paint.  Its $rap shoot on weather it will dry in 30 minutes or 3 days.  Krylon dries in 20 minutes or so.
